Week 7: Animation
I felt like I had deviated from what I actually like in my work by getting distracted by everyone else’s style. So I made a list of things I like- more specifically things that make me gravitate towards some media or object. One of those things was hyper femininity. Particularly femininity in an imperfect, gross, or destructive way. This animation uses a feminine aesthetic and tone to show the negative experience of being rejected. I experimented with using the principles of animation but on text, as if the words were actual objects inside of the phone rather than printed on the screen. A phone can be a lot of things and can display anything, but in the moment of getting a text message like this, the phone becomes the enemy and the words become an extension of the negative feeling itself. To animate this, I used Adobe Animate, frame-by-frame. There are two endings because I couldn’t decide which I liked more.
